This Beautiful Day

Today is a beautiful day. (yesterday was also). The sun is bright and shining, the sky is blue, the breeze is nice. I had a very nice weekend, although a large amount of it was spent working. Bill and I woke up early Saturday morning around 3:00AM. We couldn't sleep, so we decided to go for a drive. When we walked outside, the sound of hundreds of birds awake and chirping cheerfully met us. Everything else was calm and silent. We ate breakfast at an all night diner and spent the morning cruising around. It was quite nice. While I was up, I took this picture.

The iris in the very cool blue light of the early, early morning.
Later, I took these of the Rhododendron on the side of my house. Very beautiful.

You might be starting to see my infatuation with flowers. The simplicity in life is the best part.

For Today

A quick post for today. I got lots done this weekend. Looked through old files and found music recordings that I had completely forgotten about. I was excited, because I can send these to Blake and we can start some work on them. He has sent a few of his songs to me, and we plan to work with them, and then home record them. I will post some here sometime. (If I can). I bought a new hard drive and cleaned my poor computer off, so it could run. It was so full. It is much better now. I got a new scanner! I am so excited about using it in illustration. I used it for this weeks submission to IF. I painted with acrylic and pen and ink and graphite, and then I scanned in another image and overlayed on top. It turned out kinda cool. I went out and ate mexican food, and it was so very spicy. This dish was enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. There was no cheese, and the sauce was so HOT! I am going to attempt to submit some artwork to a company for the first time. They have asked for samples and resume for a freelance illustrator. Here goes nothing. By the way, I am not sure that I have mentioned this before, but I am a graphic designer and my desire is to become a full-time freelance illustrator. I have illustrated for both of the companies that I worked for, and done some freelance illustration that stemmed from graphic design, but not had a real illustration "only" job. I am open to any advice, constructive criticism, and jobs you may have to offer! I am excited to go forward on this endeavor, lets see where it takes me. I love to read Penelope's blog, because she was before, exactly where I am now. She is very inspiring in that she knew what she wanted, and she went for it. Wish me luck!

IF Fortune

I hope we all have fortune.

It Got Cold!

It got cold last night! I am afraid for all of our beautiful plants that just started to bloom. We covered our tomato plants last night in hopes of saving them. Today is a beautiful, sunny day. Today Bill and I are playing music. I met someone who is a guitarist, songwriter and we invited him to come and play music today. I always love to meet new musicians and get together to see what the outcome is. I will post later and let you know how it went!

Well, the music went great. Blake came over and we played some music! He has a great style and sings very well. I really enjoyed it! Some great music was played, he knew songs like "Listen to the music" by the Doobie Brothers, "Stairway to Heaven" Led Zeplin, and he has a lot of original music and it is fantastic. So I hope we all find the time to meet again. We will see!

Things I love

Hi everybody. I went out Sunday and took a few pictures of the condition of the yard after the nice rain on Saturday. I had good intention of posting them on Sunday. I love the way everything is so vibrant after it rains in spring, the colors seem intensified. The color green is my favorite (although it is very difficult to choose a favorite). The color of the hosta in this picture is my favorite shade of green.

This flower is growing in my yard. I do not yet know what it is. If you know, feel free to comment! The colors of this flower are beautiful.

This is Sadie, one of the things I LOVE the MOST. She was sitting very still and being a good puppy when I asked her to sit to get her picture taken. She always seems to know she is being photographed and looks at the camera. She is a Chocolate lab mix.
